The last few years have witnessed a tremendous rise in esports in the US and, with it, a growing concern about the lack of diversity and its underlying probable cause: toxicity toward women and minorities. The popularity of this new pastime among undergraduates has skyrocketed and club leagues are quickly transitioning into collegiate sports, leaving universities to rapidly catch up with student demand in order to attract and keep a technologically adept incoming student body.
Our goal is to be a leader not merely on the digital field; however. Our goal is to also live up to our own long standing commitment to diversity and inclusion across all aspects of campus life. As university esports programs emerge nationwide, so too must campus policies and practices that ensure a welcoming and safe environment for all students.
Recruitment
IVY Road School Esports is always looking out for new talent to join our scholarship teams for League of Legends! If you are interested, here’s some basic information to help make this process easier.
Requirements
· Must be a current or incoming full-time student at IVY Road School.
· Rank does not matter.
· Higher ranked players are preferred.
Application Process
· Fill out our Recruitment Interest form if you are an incoming or prospective student to help us track your IVY Road School application/status
· Eligible applicants will be invited to try out as we prepare rosters for the new year
· Please note that we may not respond to every applicant
· If you have any questions, feel free to email us!
· Priority applicants will have a chance to visit the campus and facility, meet current team members, coaches, and program staff
· Priority applicants may receive a pre-tryout for coaches to understand their play style, communication skills, and game sense
· Tryout applications will be released on our website and social media for current students and eligible incoming students
· Live tryouts will be held during or shortly before the school year, depending on the season’s schedule
· A final roster will be finalized before the season begins
